If You’re Entering the New Year With Faith… But Still Feel Unsure
Happy New Year!! <3 There’s something about the start of a new year that feels so fresh, new, and exciting.
The holiday magic is still in the air, your Pinterest boards are probably freshly updated with new intentions and visions for the year to come, and suddenly everything feels possible again. New routines. New goals. A new version of you. January has a way of making us believe that this could finally be the year things change.
I love that feeling.
I love dreaming about what my life could look like. The habits I want to build, the woman I want to become, the way I want my days to feel. A life that feels more aligned. More intentional. More rooted in who God created me to be.
And I know I’m not alone in that.
Most of us enter a new year with a strong vision in our hearts. Maybe it’s clearer this time, or maybe it’s still a little blurry. But the desire is there. There is an undeniable pull toward something more. An underlying feeling of calling inside of us that just doesn’t seem to go away.
At the same time, new years can bring pressure.
Pressure to get it right.
Pressure to have a crystal clear vision and action plan.
Pressure to finally follow through.
Pressure to become the “best version” of yourself overnight.
I’ve felt that too.
There have been years where I stepped into January full of excitement, only to feel overwhelmed a few weeks in. I’d wonder if I was doing enough, moving fast enough, or showing up the way I should. And slowly, confidence would turn into self-doubt, self-sabotage, and a lack of faith in the plans God has for me.
What I’ve been learning lately is: confidence doesn’t come from having the perfect plan or execution. It comes from trust.
Bold Faith Looks Different Than We Expect
When we talk about bold faith, it’s easy to imagine big leaps of faith and dramatic life changes. But in real life, bold faith often looks much different than we expect.
It looks like setting goals that honor your real life: your schedule, your energy, the season you’re in.
It looks like choosing progress over perfection.
It looks like trusting God with your desires instead of rushing to control the outcome.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord… (Jeremiah 29:11)
This is one of my favorite verses, because it reminds me that God has good plans for our lives. Plans to prosper us and not to harm us. Plans that give us hope and a good future. This verse doesn’t talk about instant results or a quick timeline to reach the promised land. It’s about long-term faithfulness that promises goodness for our lives.
So, if you’re stepping into this new year with goals and dreams that matter to you, I want you to know that you don’t have to carry them alone. God isn’t asking you to hustle or squeeze your way into the life you want. He’s inviting you to walk with Him as you build it.
Confidence Grows When You Start Where You Are
One thing I’m reminding myself of this year is that confidence isn’t something you wait for, but something you build daily.
It grows when you keep small promises to yourself.
When you show up even when there is no motivation to do so.
When you give yourself grace instead of giving up.
You don’t need a complete life overhaul to step into a new season. You need consistency. You need intention. And you need faith to become a part of the everyday.
Sometimes. the most powerful thing you can do in a new year is start small and stay steady.
If You’re Stepping Into This Year With Hope and Hesitation
If you feel excited but unsure… hopeful but nervous… inspired but overwhelmed, I promise you’re not doing anything wrong.
New seasons often come with so many mixed emotions. And that doesn’t mean you’re unprepared or unqualified for the next step. It means you care deeply about the desires and the vision on your heart and you want them to come true.
God isn’t waiting for you to be more confident before He moves in your life. He builds confidence as you trust Him, one step at a time.
So as you step into this new year, let yourself dream.
Let yourself set goals.
Let yourself desire more.
But stay rooted in faith and in grace.
You don’t have to rush the timing.
You don’t have to prove anything to anyone.
You don’t have to become someone else to step into what God has for you.
This year doesn’t need a perfect version of you to be fruitful.
It just needs a willing one.
And I believe that with God leading the way, this new season has the potential to be so deeply good.
