Hello, August

I don't know why, but August has always felt so sweet to me.

It's not quite summer anymore, but it's not fall either.

It's the season in between.

There's something bittersweet about it.

You start noticing the sun setting a little earlier. The mornings feel just a tiny bit cooler. You find yourself browsing sweaters even though it's still 85 degrees outside. You want one more beach day, one more dinner on the patio, one more slow summer evening... while also counting down the days until you can light your favorite candle and throw on a cozy sweater.

I actually laughed the other day because I bought two sweaters at the thrift store while wearing a linen dress and flip flops.

That pretty much sums up August.

I love summer.

I always will.

But there's something about the promise of fall that makes me excited every single year.

The crisp air.

Football on Sundays.

Fresh notebooks.

A wardrobe refresh.

Pumpkin bread in the oven.

Long walks when it's finally cool enough to enjoy them again.

Everything about it feels like a fresh start.

And yet, every fresh start usually asks us to let go of something first.

Maybe that's why August has always felt so special to me.

It reminds me that life moves in seasons.

Some we're more than ready to leave behind.

Others we wish we could hold onto just a little longer.

This summer has been one of those seasons for me.

In a lot of ways, it wasn't what I expected.

God has been doing some deep work in my heart. There have been days that felt really beautiful, and there have been days that felt really heavy. He's been teaching me, refining me, and slowly healing parts of me that I didn't even realize still needed healing.

I'll save more of that story for another day.

For now, I'll just say that this season has changed me.

As August reminds me that one season is coming to an end and another is beginning, I've been thinking a lot about this little online space.

Not from a branding or business perspective.

Just from my heart.

I've been asking myself what I hope someone feels after spending time here.

After a lot of reflecting, I realized I don't want to create content just for the sake of creating content.

I want this space to add something to your life.

Maybe that's a recipe you end up making for your family.

A book that inspires you to make changes that will forever change your life.

An idea that makes your apartment feel a little more like home.

A reminder that God is present even on an ordinary Tuesday.

Or maybe you simply close your laptop feeling inspired to go live your own life instead of scrolling through someone else's.

I think that's what I've been searching for all along.

I want Her Sunday Best to be a place that helps you fall a little more in love with the life God has already given you.

I know that not every season is easy and not every day is exciting, but I really do believe God is present in all of it.

He's there in the joy, the ordinary and the hard.

Even the seasons in between.

This is a place where we'll talk about alll the things. Faith, home, style, books, recipes, confidence, meaningful conversations, and all the little things that make everyday life feel beautiful.

A place for girls to grow in every area of life with God at the center.

This month, we'll savor the last little bits of summer together.

There will be books worth reading, recipes to make before peach season ends, little home projects, cozy routines before fall arrives, conversations about confidence and faith, and all the simple things that make this time of year feel so special.

More than anything, I hope we don't rush through August.

Fall will be here soon enough.

For now, I want to enjoy the long evenings while they're still here.

Eat the peaches while they're still in season.

Wear my favorite summer dress a few more times.

Open the windows on cool mornings.

Sit outside after dinner.

Thank God for another ordinary day.

Because maybe that's what August is here to teach us.

That endings and beginnings can exist at the very same time.

That it's okay to feel a little sad while also feeling excited for what's ahead.

And that God is just as faithful in the in-between as He is in every new beginning.

I have a feeling this is going to be a really sweet month.

I'm so glad you're here.

With love and praying for you always,

Laura <3
