What I'm Reading, Wearing, and Thinking About This Month

This month, I've been slowly finding my way back to some of the things I really love.

A few days ago, Jack helped me put my writing nook back together. I've spent the last year without a dedicated space to write, so sitting down there in the mornings has felt so special. It's reminded me how much I enjoy filling pages in a notebook, writing down my thoughts, and paying attention to all of the little things that make life so sweet.

So with that, here's a peek into what I've been reading, wearing, and thinking about lately.

Reading

I've been craving books that make me slow down and notice life a little more. I love books that inspire lifelong change.

The kind of books you can read and just can’t stop highlighting because every page feels like newness is on the horizon. I love that feeling.

I’ve been reading, “The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry” by John Mark Comer. It’s basically calling out the way our world lives in such chronic hurriedness and encourages you to sloooooow down. Enjoy life. Be present. You know, all the good stuff.

I've also been finding myself returning to Scripture with fresh eyes lately. Sometimes I think we spend so much time searching for answers that we forget how comforting it is to simply sit with God and let Him remind us of what's true.

Wearing

This is the summer I feel like I’ve finally found my true personal style. I’ve been reaching for pretty dresses, more pops of color, capris, floral prints, and all things pretty and feminine that feel like they are from the 70’s. I’ve pretty much thrifted my entire summer wardrobe so I have lots of pieces that I love and actually feel like me.

Just pieces that make getting dressed feel easy and feminine.

I've noticed that when I love what I'm wearing, I tend to show up more confidently in my life. There's something so nice about feeling like yourself and feeling put together.

Lately that has looked like:

  • Thrifted dresses

  • Lots of cute floral and colorful tops

  • Simple sandals

  • Gold jewelry

  • A basket bag

  • Lip gloss and tinted moisturizer

The older I get, the more I realize personal style is built through wearing the things you truly love year after year, and sticking to those things no matter what. It creates a timeless and effortless wardrobe that feels true to despite what’s trending.

Thinking About

I’m going to be honest and say that I’ve had a lot on my mind lately.

I've been thinking a lot about how easy it is to postpone the things we love and how easy it is to focus on the negative and forget God.

For a long time, I told myself I would start showing up on social media, specifically Instagram, once I felt better (I’ve been dealing with some health issues) and I’ve been waiting until I “felt more confident and had more clarity about what I’m supposed to do.” But as the months continue to pass me by, that day still hasn’t come. I’m starting to realize that life doesn’t really work that way.

Most of us are waiting on something and always will be.

Maybe its a prayer we are waiting to be answered or a dream we’ve been working toward for years or a situation we wished was different.

The challenge is learning how to live while the story is still unfolding and trusting God that it’s going to be good in the end.

I know that life can be so hard and our challenges are real.

But life is still happening and there is so much to be grateful for and so much beauty to experience if we let ourselves look for it.

I love my solo coffee dates and the way it feels to sit by the window and write my heart out.
I’ve been enjoying the summer weather and the warmth of the sun on my skin.
The conversations that I have with Jack late at night while we sip tea with candles lit.
These are the little moments I think we'll remember forever.

I've been reminding myself not to miss out on them.

A Few Things I'm Loving

  • Having my writing nook back and pouring my heart out into the pages of my journal again

  • Iced coffee on warm mornings

  • Fresh flowers from the grocery store

  • Takihg long walks

  • Summer dresses (preferably thrifted)

  • Deep cleaning the house with the windows open for fresh air

  • Dreaming about what's next for Her Sunday Best

I'd love to know what's inspiring you this month…

What are you reading, wearing, and thinking about lately?

and of course,

Praying for you always,

Laura <3
