30 Mid-Year Journal Prompts to Reflect, Reset & Dream About the Rest of the Year
I can hardly believe we're already halfway through the year.
January always feels so full of fresh goals, new routines, and excitement for everything ahead. Then somehow you blink, and suddenly it's July.
If you're anything like me, you've probably spent the past six months celebrating some wins, learning a few unexpected lessons, and watching life unfold in ways you never could have planned.
That's why I love taking a little time in the middle of the year to pause before jumping into the next season.
This isn’t to criticize myself for everything I haven’t done or to rewrite a list of impossible goals.
It’s just to slow down, reflect, celebrate what's gone well, and dream a little about what's still ahead.
So pour yourself an iced coffee, grab your journal, and let's have a little mid-year check-in together.
Looking Back
Before you think about where you're headed, spend a little time appreciating where you've already been.
Sometimes we're so focused on what's next that we forget how much has happened in just a few months.
What are three moments from this year that made you genuinely happy?
What are you most proud of so far this year?
What's something God has taught you over the past six months?
What's one challenge that ended up helping you grow?
When have you felt the most like yourself this year?
What's a prayer you've seen answered?
What's something you want to remember about this season?
What are you grateful for today?
Checking In With Yourself
Life gets busy, and sometimes we don't realize how we're actually doing until we slow down long enough to ask.
These prompts are less about finding the "right" answer and more about being honest with yourself.
How have you really been feeling lately?
What's been taking up most of your mental space?
What has been bringing you the most joy recently?
What's been draining your energy?
What have you been saying "yes" to that maybe needs to become a "no"?
What's one habit that's been serving you well?
Where do you feel like you need a little more rest?
What would make this season feel lighter?
Dreaming About the Rest of the Year
One of my favorite things about a mid-year reset is remembering that you don't have to wait until January to begin again.
There's still so much time left.
What do you hope the rest of this year feels like?
What kind of woman do you want to become over the next few months?
What's something you've been wanting to start?
What's one thing you've been putting off that you're finally ready to do?
If you could only accomplish one meaningful goal before the end of the year, what would it be?
What are you excited about right now?
What are you praying for in this next season?
What's one small step you can take this week toward the life you're building?
Romanticizing the Rest of the Year
Not every goal has to be about productivity.
Some of my favorite goals are simply about enjoying life a little more.
How do you want your mornings to feel?
What's one simple thing you want to romanticize this season?
What summer memory do you hope to make?
What book do you want to read before fall?
What's somewhere you'd love to spend an afternoon?
What little luxury would make an ordinary week feel more special?
A Few Reminders
As you finish writing, remember this:
You don't have to have the whole year figured out.
You don't have to be exactly where you thought you'd be by now.
You don't need to wait until January to reset your goals, try something new, or become the woman God is shaping you into.
Sometimes all it takes is one quiet afternoon, an open journal, and the willingness to begin again.
So here's to the second half of the year.
I hope it's full of answered prayers, ordinary days that become favorite memories, courage to chase the things God has placed on your heart, and plenty of reasons to look back with gratitude when December finally arrives.
Happy journaling.
