10 Affirmations That Help Shift My Mindset
We think thousands of thoughts a day. Some pass through without a trace, but others? They stick. They shape how we see ourselves, how we show up, and what we believe is possible.
When I was in Miami a few months ago, I noticed my thoughts were getting really negative… especially toward myself. I was on a walk when it hit me—my mind had been spiraling. I was overthinking, nitpicking, and letting self-doubt take the lead. So I tried something different. I searched “affirmations” on Spotify, put on my headphones, and just listened while I walked. At first, it felt a little silly—but it helped more than I expected. I even bought a new journal and started writing down small truths I wanted to believe about myself. I’m not perfect with it, and some days I forget, but when I do make time for it, I feel a real difference. It shifts my mood. It helps me feel more like myself again.
I’ve learned that if I don’t take those thoughts captive, they’ll take me somewhere I don’t want to go. So now I speak truth—because words carry power, and I want mine to lead me into a bold and beautiful life, not a fearful one.
So if your thoughts have been heavy, or your inner voice hasn’t been the kindest lately, here are some of the affirmations I come back to—truths that help me feel grounded, encouraged, and remind me of who I really am.
1. I’M DOING BETTER THAN I REALIZE.
It’s easy to focus on what’s not working, but I’ve come a long way. Just because I haven’t arrived doesn’t mean I’m not on the right path. I’m making progress, and that matters.
2. I’M MORE SUPPORTED THAN I REALIZE.
It might feel like I’m alone sometimes, but I’m not. There are more people rooting for me than I can see—and God is cheering me on, too.
3. WHAT’S COMING IS WORTH GETTING EXCITED ABOUT.
The best is yet to come. There’s still beauty, joy, and open doors ahead. I’m stepping into a future that’s full of so much goodness.
4. I’M STRONGER THAN WHAT’S TRYING TO BREAK ME.
Even if I feel weak, strength is within me. I won’t stay small. I’ve been built to withstand the hard things and keep going.
5. MY STRUGGLES ARE SHAPING SOMETHING MEANINGFUL.
The struggle isn’t random. Even the pain is working for a bigger purpose. God is turning it all into something good.
6. I DON’T HAVE TO BE PERFECT TO BE PRESENT.
Life doesn’t need to be polished to be beautiful. I can show up as I am, and that’s enough.
7. I CHOOSE TO BELIEVE WHAT GOD SAYS ABOUT ME.
The loudest voice in my head won’t be my fear. I’m replacing “not enough” with “called, chosen, and capable.”
8. JOY BEGINS WHEN I START SAYING THANK YOU.
Gratitude changes how I see everything. When I focus on what’s good, my whole spirit lifts.
9. I’M EQUIPPED FOR WHAT I’M CALLED TO CARRY.
I don’t need to hustle for what I already have. God gave me what I need to walk this out.
10. I’M EMBRACING WHO I AM—AND I AM BEAUTIFUL.
I don’t have to look like anyone else. I was created with intention, and today, I’m owning it with confidence.
You don’t have to believe all these affirmations perfectly. You just have to start. Start speaking truth into the places that feel unsure. Start rewriting the story in your head with love. Start believing that you were made for more than the thoughts that try to keep you small.
These words won’t change everything overnight. But they will shift something. Your mindset. Your perspective. Your mood. And with time, they might just help you remember the version of you that’s always been there.
Speak life. You deserve to hear it.
