When You Feel Behind in Life, Remember This
“So why would I fear the future? For your goodness and love pursue me all the days of my life.” - Psalm 23:6
I’ll be the first to admit that more often than not, I feel behind in life.
And I don’t always know where that feeling comes from, but I do know it’s painful.
You scroll online for a few minutes and it seems like everyone else is figuring it out: buying homes, launching businesses, achieving big goals, while you’re still trying to get it together.
I know that feeling all too well. The nonstop scrolling. The pit in your stomach when it feels like someone announces something you’ve been praying for. And then the doubt creeps in and whispers that you should be further along by now.
Lately, I’ve had to remind myself, over and over again, that everything happens in God’s timing, not mine.
A simple truth, but one I keep returning to every time I start to feel like I’m not where I should be.
God isn’t rushed by time, and neither should you be.
What feels like delay is often protection and preparation for all that’s to come. Just because things aren’t going your way doesn’t mean you’re stuck, purposeless, or broken.
You’re being refined in the in-between seasons for the kind of life that won’t crumble when it finally comes together.
God doesn’t work the way the world does.
And if there’s anything I’ve learned in this wilderness season, it’s that He wants you to have real freedom.
He doesn’t want to give you the dream career while you’re still battling daily anxiety.
He doesn’t want to bless you with marriage while you’re still questioning your worth every time you look in the mirror.
He takes His time, because He wants you to experience the fullness of the goodness He’s planned for you and you alone. That’s why trusting His timing matters so much. It reminds us that He has goodness stored up for us that’s so worth the wait.
If we had it our way, we’d skip all the hard work, head straight to the Promised Land, and miss out on all the good stuff.
We live in a society where everything on the outside looks good, but on the inside, people are struggling.
God doesn’t want to give us a life that just looks good. He wants to bless us with one that feels good too.
And honestly, that’s what Her Sunday Best is all about. A life that feels as good as it looks.
Sometimes what we call “waiting” is actually God protecting us from things that would’ve broken us if they came too soon. He’s aligning you with people, places, and opportunities that fit the full picture, not just arrive on your timeline.
So if you’re in a season where it feels like nothing is going your way, remember that growth is happening even when you can’t see it.
The roots always grow before the flowers bloom.
You weren’t made to fit into the world’s timelines or expectations (I know that’s easier said than done).
Keep showing up.
Keep watering your faith.
Keep becoming the woman God called you to be even if no one else can see it yet.
Because one day, you’ll look back and realize you weren’t behind at all. You were right on time for your story and your destiny.
